Lauren Gant-Wilson brings years of experience as a high school and collegiate dance coach, as well as her own competitive dance experience, to her work as the assistant coach of the Michigan Dance Team. Gant-Wilson is a native of Toledo, Ohio where she began dancing at the early age of three, training in all techniques and dance styles.
In high school, she danced for the Sylvania Southview Cougarettes, where they won a total of 6 state titles at the OASSA State Championship. She also won numerous solo regional titles with her competitive studio, Inspire Dance Company. Gant-Wilson is eager to continue to bring her knowledge to the Michigan Dance Team, all while being a part of the team’s tradition of excellence.Â
Gant-Wilson was named the competitive head dance coach for Lourdes University in the summer of 2021, where she drove notable success and growth for the program. Prior to Lourdes, Gant-Wilson served as head coach for the Sylvania Southview Cougarettes from 2018 - 2023. In her last two seasons as head coach, she led her Southview team to back to back state championship titles at the OASSA State Championship in Large Jazz and Large Pom. Gant-Wilson has a total of 4 state championships as head coach along with a top three placement in hip hop. Her most recent accomplishment was choreographing halftime for the Valero Alamo Bowl in 2022.
Gant-Wilson is a graduate of Sylvania Southview High School and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Management from Eastern Michigan University. She lives in Toledo, Ohio with her husband Lukasz and their two kids.
