Head coach Hannah Nielsen announced the hiring of Lellie Swords as the director of operations in August of 2023.Â
Swords come to Michigan after running 214Lacrosse Club in Dallas, Texas for the last nine years. She also spent time coaching in the high school ranks following her collegiate coaching career.
Prior to her time in Dallas, Swords was the inaugural head coach at the University of Cincinnati coaching the Bearcats from 2007-2012. Off the field, Swords helped the program to one of top grade point averages in the UC athletic department with a 3.4 team GPA and received the Big East Team Academic Excellence Award twice.
Swords' team also led the Cincinnati athletic department in community service hours during her tenure participating in a variety of activities within the community and receiving the 2009 IWLCA Community Service Award.
Prior to her time at Cincinnati, Swords was also the associate head coach at Johns Hopkins University and an assistant coach at Cornell and George Mason.
Off the field, Swords served as the WLCA Board of Directors, Vice President and the IWLCA Board of Directors Secretary. She was part of the the IWLCA Regional All-American Committee and the IWLCA Ethics Committee, while also service as the Big East Women’s Lacrosse Conference Vice President. She also served time on the NCAA Regional Ranking Committee and is the SOWLUA Board Youth Liaison
Swords played collegiately at James Madison University and had a standout career on the defensive end of the field.Â
