Team captain of Michigan's 1937 track and field team, Bob Osgood captured three Big Ten titles and an NCAA crown during his career as a Wolverine. As a sophomore in 1935, he became Big Ten champion in the indoor 65-yard high hurdles and won the 120-yard high hurdles his junior and senior years. In 1936, he proved his versatility when he followed his Big Ten championship with the NCAA title in the 400-meter high hurdles. He is most known for breaking the world record in the 120 high hurdles with a time of 14 flat in 1937, despite having to dash through what was described as “a sheet of rain that beat into his face."
