University of Michigan Hall of Honor

Dave Barclay
- Induction:
- 1987
Dave Barclay was a standout on Michigan's golf team from 1946-1948 after serving in World War II, having flown 54 missions in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Barclay, who was known as an aggressive putter, helped the Wolverines compile a 31-10 record, including two conference championships and a runner-up finish at the 1946 NCAA Championships. Barclay is best known for his individual triumph in 1947 as he claimed the NCAA individual title, held at the U-M Golf Course. Barclay, the team captain in 1947, got off to a slow start that season but found his groove at the NCAA Championships held on the Ann Arbor course. It took Barclay all 36 holes in the match-play format to defeat Louisiana State's Jack Coyle, who conceded the match on the 18th green.
