Harold Donahue was one of the first Michigan wrestling champions. As a member of the Wolverine varsity squad, he won two Big Ten Conference titles and All-America honors over three seasons. He served as captain of the 1926-27 squad and capped his collegiate wrestling career with a light heavyweight victory over Illinois' Russ Crane to claim Big Ten 175-pound championship. Donahue added four State of Michigan Amateur titles to his list of athletic achievements from 1924-28. After graduation, he remained at U-M and served as the assistant wrestling coach for two seasons while a graduate student.
