Maynard Morrison

Maynard Morrison

Maynard Morrison is considered one of the finest two-way players in Michigan football history. On defense, he was described by legendary Wolverine coach Harry Kipke as "the finest linebacker I ever saw from tackle to tackle. No one ever got past him." During Morrison's senior year, 1931, he led a defensive effort that held five successive opponents to a combined total of five first downs. It was Morrison's offensive play that earned him national honors as in 1931 he became the sixth Wolverine center to win All-America honors. After graduation, Morrison signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers and played two years, and later returned to Michigan as a high school teacher and football coach.
