Michael Leach
- Induction:
- 2008
Michael Leach starred on the hardcourts from 1979-1982 and remains one of the most decorated tennis stars in U-M history. As a freshman, Leach won a Big Ten singles and doubles title. He followed that season by posting a 24-4 singles record, leading to the Big Ten singles and doubles titles. As a junior, he earned All-America honors by winning all but two individual matches. His career culminated in 1982 season when, as an unseeded player, Leach defeated future professional tennis star Brad Gilbert of Pepperdine to claim the 1982 NCAA singles title in straight sets (7-5, 6-3).  With his victory, Leach joined Barry MacKay (1957) as the only Wolverines to claim an NCAA crown.
