Michigan Skates to 2-2 Tie at Notre Dame

Notre Dame (8-1-2, 6-1-1 CCHA) took the lead first at 10:05 of the opening period on a goal from David Inman, but Michigan (6-2-1, 5-1-1 CCHA) countered a minute later when Dave Huntzicker (Ann Arbor, Mich.) fired a shot from the blue line past Forrest Karr. Mark Kosick (Victoria, B.C.) and Mike Comrie (Edmonton, Alberta) provided the assists.
The power play was the key again in the second period, when Kosick added his second point of the night with a goal at the 11:17 mark. He wristed in the rebound of Mike Van Ryn's (London, Ontario) shot from the left point. Huntzicker also picked up his second point of the game with an assist on the goal.
The Irish tied the game just 26 seconds into the third period with their first power-play goal of the game, from Ben Simon. At the 9:58 mark of the period, Sean Ritchlin (Conseco, N.Y.) received a five-minute penalty for hitting from behind and a 10-minute game misconduct penalty, but Michigan was able to kill the penalty and keep Notre Dame off the board for the rest of the period to force overtime.
Josh Blackburn (Choctaw, Okla.) made 34 saves, including four one-on-one shots from just outside the crease, for his first career tie (6-1-1). Notre Dame's Karr made 20 saves.
Michigan returns to action with a pair of games at home next weekend. The Wolverines will face intrastate rival Michigan State on Friday (Nov. 20) at 7 p.m., followed by a rematch against Notre Dame on Saturday (Nov. 21) at 7 p.m.
