Michigan Ranked Sixth by Athlon Sports Magazine

Individually, five Wolverines were listed among the publications preseason All-American squads. Senior tight end Jerame Tuman (Liberal, KS) was the team's only first-team selection while fellow classmates Jon Jansen (Clawson, MI), Marcus Ray (Columbus, OH) and Sam Sword (Saginaw, MI) were listed on the second-team. Junior defensive lineman Josh Wiliams (Houston, TX) was tabbed to the third-team All-American squad.
Michigan is also listed second in the magazines Big Ten Conference predicted order of finish. The Wolverines trail Ohio State. In addition, U-M had five players listed on the preseason All-Big Ten Conference team. Tuman, Jansen and sophomore offensive lineman Steve Hutchinson (Coral Springs, FL) are listed offensively, while Sword and Ray are the team's only defensive selections.
