FRANKLIN, Ind. -- The University of Michigan women's golf team finished 10th for the third time in four tournaments this season at the Shootout at the Legends in Franklin, Ind., Oct. 11-12. The Wolverines finished with round scores of 317-305-307 for a 54-hole tournament total of 929.
Oklahoma State won the overall team title with a 873 total after rounds of 293-288-292. Northwestern and Purdue finished as the tournament team runner-up after the Wildcats rounds of 303-300-289 for a 892 total and the Boilermakers rounds of 306-298-288 for a 892 total. Oklahoma State's Maria Boden won the individual title by two strokes after rounds of 72-71-72 for a 215 total.
Freshman Kim Benedict (Rochester Hills, Mich./Adams H.S.) again led the Wolverines finishing tied for 13th after rounds of 74-74-76 for a three round total of 224. After a slow start sophomore Bess Bowers (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington North HS) came firing back in the final round to finish tied of 35th. Bowers finished with rounds of 80-77-74 for a 233 total.
Other scores for the Wolverines include: sophomore Cortney Reno (Grosse Ile, Mich./Grosse Ile HS) finished 46th (79-78-78/235); sophomore LeAnna Wicks (Brighton, Mich./Brighton HS) finished tied for 49th (84-74-79/237) and sophomore Stephanie MacAdams (Lubbock, Texas/Coronado) finished 69th (86-81-80/247). Junior Amy Talbot (Plantation, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas HS) competed as an individual and finished with a 240 total after rounds of 79-77-84.
The Wolverines' next tournament will be Oct. 24-25 when they travel down south to DeLand, Fla., to participate in the Hatter Fall Classic at the DeLand Country Club.
