Thompson, Siciliano, McWha lead Michigan at U.S. Open

Michigan was led by an All-American trio that each finished in the top 20 for the 1,500-meter freestyle event. Junior Chris Thompson (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg HS) finished seventh with a time of 15:43.22, sophomore Tim Siciliano (San Marcos, Calif./San Marcos HS) placed 12th (15:51.94) and senior tri-captain Mike McWha (Windsor, Ontario/Kennedy Collegiate Institute) finished 19th (16:05.91).
Senior Francisco Suriano Siu (San Salvador, El Salvador/Academia Britanica Cuscatleca) finished 24th in the 200-meter breaststroke, and true freshman Paul Ely (Beaverton, Ore./Sunset HS) placed 28th in the 200-meter butterfly. In the 400-meter freestyle relay, U-M finished 15th (3:36.26).
Former Michigan great Tom Malchow (1996-99) set a meet record time of 1:57.16 in the 200-meter butterfly on his way to a first-place finish. Ex-Michigan great Marcel Wouda (1993-95) finished second in the 200-meter breaststroke.
