LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The University of Michigan women's tennis team lost an 8-1 match to No. 23 Kentucky today at the Boone Indoor Tennis Center. The Wolverines dropped their first match of the season (1-1), while the Wildcats remained undefeated at 4-0.
Michigan's only victory in the match came as senior Jennifer Boylan (Staten Island, N.Y./Staten Island Academy HS) defeated Shannon Stafford in straight sets at No. 6 singles (7-5, 6-3).
The Wolverines will look to rebound on Valentine's Day (Sunday, Feb. 14) with a match against No. 26 Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn. Michigan is 0-2 all-time against the Volunteers, including a 7-2 loss last year at the Varsity Tennis Center.
