Four Wolverines Compete at Toledo Indoor Tournament

TOLEDO, Ohio -- Four University of Michigan men's tennis players competed in the 2000 Toledo Rocket Indoor Championships held at the Laurel Hills Tennis Club this past weekend (Oct. 13-15). The Wolverines won six of the 10 singles matches in which they competed, with junior Greg Novak (Stoney Creek, Ontario/Cardinal Newman HS) reaching the finals.
Novak reached the final of the 'A' singles flight before retiring in the second set against DePaul's Robert Kurek. Novak finished in second place with a 3-1 record, beating Toledo's Dipesh Rao (7-5, 6-3), Ohio State's Martin Johansson (6-2, 6-2) and DePaul's Maciek Jozwiak (6-2, 6-1) along the way to the final.
Sophomores Chris Shaya (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Saddlebrook Academy, Fla.), Chris Rolf (Midland, Mich./Midland HS) and Jeremy Edelson (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North HS) each posted 1-1 records at the tournament.
