Wolverines Perform Well at Eastern Michigan Classic

YPSILANTI, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's cross country team sent the secondary squad to compete unattached in the Eastern Michigan University Classic Friday (Oct. 20) at the Rolling Hills Metropark while the Wolverines' first team rested as it prepares for the upcoming Big Ten Conference Championships. No team scores were kept, but three Wolverines placed in the top five individually.
Sophomore Ryan Hesselink (Freeport, Mich./Thornapple-Kellogg HS) led the way for the Wolverines as he finished second with a time of 26:24 on the 8,000-meter course, 16 seconds behind champion Jordan Desilets of host EMU. Freshman Brian Turner (Omaha, Neb./Millard North HS) finished third in 26:30, while senior Nate Hoffman (Allegan, Mich./Allegan HS) was right behind in fourth in 26:33.
Redshirt freshman Eric Bohn (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson HS) also finished in the top 10, placing ninth in 27:11, while sophomore Aaron Lindell (Corunna, Mich./Corunna HS) was 11th in 27:19.
Michigan will return to action next week on Sunday (Oct. 29) when the Wolverines go to the Big Ten Championships in Madison, Wis. The men's 8,000-meter race starts at 10:30 a.m. CST.
