Michigan to Host ITA Midwest Regional Championships

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's tennis program will host the 2000 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Championships starting tomorrow (Thursday, Nov. 2) at the Varsity Tennis Center. This prestigious tournament has the top 128 singles players and 64 doubles teams from across the Midwest Region battling for individual titles to be decided on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
Admission is free to the public with matches running throughout the day from Thursday through Sunday. Following is the list of nine singles players and four doubles teams that the Wolverines will send into competition:
- Main Singles -- Chrissie Nolan and Kavitha Tipirneni
- Qualifying Singles -- Jen Duprez, Marya Farah, Szandra Fuzesi, Kim Plaushines, Alison Sinclair, Lisa So and Jen Vaughn
- Main Doubles -- Duprez/Tipirneni, Vaughn/Fuzesi and Nolan/Plaushines
- Qualifying Doubles -- Farah/Sinclair
The singles finalists and doubles champion from the tournament will advance to the qualifying portion of the Rolex National Indoor Championships (Feb. 1-4) in Dallas, Texas.
