U-M Head Coach Brian Ellerbe
On the game ... "I am definitely proud of our guys and how were able to step it up. We had a two-minute period in the first half that was as bad as it gets. We had a blocked shot that led to a dunk, a bad shot that led to a three and then three straight turnovers. Towson is a good offensive team. They cashed in on those opportunities. Lo and behold it's a tie game. I know we played pretty decently defensively in the first half and we logged some fouls, but we were pretty much doing what we needed to do."
More on the game ... "Down the stretch we executed. We got good looks every single time we executed. I was happy about that. We beat a solid team today and I'm proud of the way the guys never put their head down and struggled through it."
Senior Forward Josh Asselin
On the team's performance ... "We had to come together as a team. We bounced back and tried to play through the deficit. We knew we had to pick up the intensity in the second half. Every night we need to come ready to play."
On his play ... "I've been trying to get a lot of rebounds and be a lot more productive in the post. I'm trying to establish position and score, and if it isn't there dish it out. Our inside-out game was working well tonight."
Sophomore Forward LaVell Blanchard
On the game ... "At halftime, Coach [Brian Ellerbe] emphasized the need to break the zone, to get open shots, and to move the ball around. We were forcing things in the first half. We tried to move things around more and take open shots. The most important thing to do was get stops on the defensive end."
On his double-double ... "I care more about the win than the stats."
Towson Head Coach Mike Jaskulski
On the game ... "I've got a pretty disappointed basketball team in my locker room right now. Disappointed, but I don't think disheartened. I don't think what you saw today from our team is unusual. We're pretty good."
On Michigan's schedule ... "I read an article the other day about the four 'easy ones' that Michigan had before the conference season, but what you have to understand is that there aren't any easy ones. There are on paper, but there aren't any easy ones. Brian (Ellerbe) is going to fight for every one."
