U-M Women's Tennis Wins Tight Match at Wisconsin

Michigan earned the doubles point with a sweep of all three matches. Senior co-captain Brooke Hart (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson HS) and freshman Jen Duprez (Westhampton, N.Y./Westhampton Beach HS) posted an 8-3 victory over April Gabler and Lara Vojnov at the top spot. Senior co-captain Danielle Lund (Leominster, Mass./Leominster HS) and junior Szandra Fuzesi (Budapest, Hungary/Balassi Balint Gymnazium) clinched the team point with an 8-4 win at No. 2. Junior Alison Sinclair (Lakeland, Fla./George Jenkins HS) and freshman Joanne Musgrove (LaSalle, Ontario/Sandwich HS) polished off the doubles sweep with an 8-5 victory at the No. 3 spot, beating Dena Baritot and Shana McElroy.
Holding a 1-0 advantage heading into the singles matches, the Wolverines split the six singles matches to edge the Badgers by a 4-3 match score. Lund claimed a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Vanessa Rauh at No. 2, Musgrove beat Baritot (6-4, 6-3) at No. 4 and Duprez won a 6-3, 7-5 match over Katie Dougherty at No. 5.
Michigan closes its road schedule tomorrow at Iowa (Sunday, April 16, 10 a.m. CDT), before returning to the Varsity Tennis Center for a pair of Big Ten matches and the conference championship tournament.
