Michigan Rowing Signs Four for 2000-01 Season

Beck, Mandoli and Reynolds are all coming to Michigan as true freshmen. Martin has completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Dayton and will begin work toward a graduate degree this fall at Michigan. She rowed on the club team at Dayton for the past four years and has one year of eligibility remaining.
"I look for this group of athletes to make an immediate impact," said head coach Mark Rothstein. "Their experience and athleticism should complement our returning rowers well and help our team reach its goals for next season."

Katie Reynolds
Two-time champion (1998 and 1999) in the Junior Women's Single at the Canada Cup National Championship Regatta ... Won a total of 19 gold medals in various events at the 1999 Nova Scotia Sprints Regatta, Atlantic Crew Classic and Atlantic Rowing Championships ... Has been a short-track speed skater since age of five ... Has attended the National Speed Skating Championships for the past eight years ... Earned a silver medal in the 1,000- and 3,000-meter events and a bronze medal in the relay event at the 1999 Canada Cup ... Named New Brunswick Athlete of the Month for April 1999 ... Ranked second in the nation in speed skating while in Grade 11 ... Has also played soccer for five years.
