This Week: Indiana Dual Meet
The University of Michigan women's track and field team will be hosting its lone dual meet of the season when the Wolverines face Big Ten Conference rival Indiana University this Saturday (Jan. 13) at the U-M Track Building. Field events begin at 10:30 a.m., with the track portion starting at noon.

Michigan/Indiana History
Last year, in Bloomington, Ind., Indiana defeated the Wolverines in a dual meet, 84-77. The victory for IU stopped an eight-year stretch (1992-99) in which U-M defeated the Hoosiers in the head-to-head meet. Despite the loss, Michigan won eight of the 15 events.

Indiana's Worst Enemies
Several of U-M's returning athletes who did well against Indiana last year will again be back in the lineup for this year's dual meet. Senior Katie Jazwinski (Grand Rapids, Mich./West Catholic HS) won a pair of events last year against the Hoosiers, including the mile (4:54.86) and the 3,000-meter run (9:47.46). Senior Erin White (Battle Creek, Mich./Central HS) was right behind Jazwinski in the mile and finished runner-up. Senior Lisa Ouellet (Sudbury, Ontario/Lasalle SS) won the 800 (2:10.69), while fellow senior Regine Caruthers (Inglewood, Calif./St. Bernard HS) took the 600.

The Wolverines also have two defending winners in field events, with juniors Nicole DeNamur (Algoma, Wis./Algoma HS) and Tasha Phillips (Sarasota, Fla./Booker HS) winning the high jump (5-4 1/2) and triple jump (38-7 1/2), respectively.

Last Week: Jack Harvey Invitational
Michigan opened its 2001 Indoor track season on Saturday (Jan. 6) with the Jack Harvey Invitational at the U-M Track Building. Former Wolverines such as Maria Brown (1997-2000), Erica Murdock (1997-2000) and Sarah Hamilton (1996-2000) joined the action and pushed the current squad in its first meet of the year. Michigan event winners included:
