Beam Falls in ITA All-American Championship Opener

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. -- University of Michigan senior men's tennis player Henry Beam (Kalamazoo, Mich./Loy Norrix HS) lost to No. 3-seeded K.J. Hippensteel of Stanford earlier today (Thursday, Oct. 11) in the first round of the 2001 ITA All-American Championships held at the Lincoln Tennis Center.
Beam, ranked No. 43 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association preseason Top 100 singles rankings, suffered his setback to Hippensteel (6-2, 6-0) in the first round of the 64-player main draw portion of the tournament.
Beam and the remainder of the Wolverines return to the hardcourt Oct. 19-21 at the Thunderbird Collegiate Invitational held at Arizona State University.
