Jillson Selected for CCHA All-Academic First Team

Six Wolverines were among the players who received special mention on the CCHA All-Academic team -- sophomore forward Andy Hilbert (Howell, Mich.), senior defenseman Dave Huntzicker (Ann Arbor, Mich.), senior forward Scott Matzka (Port Huron, Mich.), sophomore forward Mark Mink (Livonia, Mich.), senior forward Bill Trainor (Canton, Mich.) and junior defenseman Jay Vancik (Medina, Ohio).
To be eligible for consideration, a player must have completed at least one academic year and have a 3.00 grade-point average on a 4.00 scale. The top six vote-getters, regardless of position, are named to the All-Academic Team. Ties are not broken. Others receiving votes earning honorable mention, and any other nominees receive special mention.
The All-Academic Team will be honored at the 2001 CCHA Awards on Thursday, March 15, at the Fox Theatre in Detroit. Ticket information for the event is available on the CCHA's site.
No. 6-ranked Michigan (22-11-5, 16-9-3 CCHA) is preparing to host Ferris State in a CCHA Tournament first-round series this weekend in Yost Ice Arena. The best-of-three series has the teams playing at 7:35 p.m. Friday (March 9) and 7:05 p.m. Saturday (March 10), with a 7:05 p.m. game if necessary on Sunday (March 11).
