Michigan Announces 2001-02 Wrestling Schedule

U-M will start the season at the Eastern Michigan Open (Nov. 3) and the Michigan State Open (Nov. 17-18) before heading to Primm, Nev., for the Cliff Keen Invitational, where the Wolverines finished 10th last season.
The Wolverines' first of six home meets will be against Central Michigan (Dec. 8). After hosting Lehigh (Jan. 4), Michigan will spend most of January on the road with non-conference matchups against Cleveland State (Jan. 5), Oregon (Jan. 11) and Oregon State (Jan. 12). U-M will then travel to the National Dual Team Championships (Jan. 19-20) before opening up the Big Ten Conference season at home against defending national champion Minnesota (Jan. 25).
U-M will face Purdue (Jan. 27) and Illinois (Feb. 8) before going back on the road to compete against Penn State (Feb. 8), Ohio State (Feb. 10), Iowa (Feb. 15) and Wisconsin (Feb. 17). The Wolverines will return for their final home match of the season against Michigan State (Feb. 24).
This year's Big Ten Championships will be hosted by Illinois in Champaign, Ill., with first- and second-round action on March 9 and consolation and final matches on March 10. Those competitors finishing in the top eight will qualify for the NCAA Championships, which will be March 21-23 in Albany, N.Y.
