WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The University of Michigan women's soccer team lost its second straight road game this afternoon (Friday, Oct. 11), dropping a 1-0 contest at No. 20 Purdue. The game was scoreless at halftime, but Boilermaker sophomore Lauren Sesselman scored the go-ahead goal in the 53rd minute and the No. 9 Wolverines were unable to come back.

Michigan worked hard to score the equalizer in the game's final 37 minutes, but the Purdue defense continually frustrated the Wolverine attack. Senior forward Abby Crumpton (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester Adams HS) led the Maize and Blue effort with six shots on the afternoon, however, Purdue goalie Jocelyn Cavalier only had to make one save to earn Purdue's sixth shutout of the season. Grech made four saves in net for the Wolverines.
The Wolverines will look to turn around their road woes this Sunday (Oct. 13) when they travel to Bloomington, Ind., for a 4 p.m. EST/CDT contest against Indiana.

Q U O T E S
U-M Head Coach Debbie Rademacher
On the game ... "We had some opportunities, but we weren't shooting on goal. I think the shots were there but we didn't make their goalie work to make saves. In reality we might have really only gotten three or four shots on net."
On creating offense ... "We got the ball to our forwards, at least we got it there enough to be able to create something. Abby (Crumpton) had some nice chances, but it came down to getting the ball on net."
On the first half ... "In the first half, we didn't show up to play for the first 30 minutes. By the time we got our momentum going it was halftime. They scored early, and a one-goal lead isn't sure by any means, but it was another thing that kept us from really finding our rhythm."
