Grant Takes 125-Pound Crown at Michigan State Open

Also finishing highly were junior Jeremiah Tobias (Manchester, Mich./Manchester HS), who battled back through the consolation bracket after an early second-round loss to take third place at 149 pounds. Tobias posted three falls at the tournament, including one over Findlay's Waylon Lowe at the 3:25 mark of the third-place bout. Redshirt freshman Greg Wagner (Fort Wayne, Ind./Snider HS) posted a 3-2 record en route to a fourth-place finish at heavyweight.
Rounding out the Wolverines' top finishes were freshman Rob Sulaver (Dearborn, Mich./Dearborn HS), who posted a 4-2 record to take seventh place at 157 pounds; redshirt freshman R.J. Boudro (Richmond, Mich./Armada HS), who made his season debut with a seventh-place finish at 174 pounds; and freshman Chase Verdoorn (Platt City, Mo./Platt County HS), who posted a 4-3 record en route to a eighth-place finish at 197 pounds.
The Wolverine wrestling team will return to action Sunday (Nov. 17) for the annual Maize and Blue intrasquad meet at Cliff Keen Arena. The preliminary round will begin at noon, and the final round is scheduled for 6 p.m.
