ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's golf coach Andrew Sapp announced today (Wednesday, Nov. 20) the signing of Kevin Dore (Dundas, Ontario/St. Mary's Catholic Secondary) to a National Letter of Intent for the 2003-04 academic year.
"We are very pleased to announce Kevin will be joining the University of Michigan men's golf program," said Sapp. "Kevin has had an outstanding career. Winning two AJGA events this summer in sudden death playoffs, as well as shooting a closing round 65 on the U of M course in winning the U.S. Junior qualifier, proves that he has the game and guts to be very successful here at Michigan. We are excited that he has chosen the University of Michigan to help him reach his goals academically and athletically."
Dore is a two-time MVP at St Mary's Catholic Secondary School (2001, '02). He was a member of the Canadian team at the inaugural Canada-Ireland Junior Challenge in Ireland and the Ontario team at the Can-Am Days Challenge in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Dore competed in 2001 and 2002 United States Junior Amateur Championships.
A member of the American Junior Golf Association, he was a 2002 AJGA Polo Golf Junior All-America honorable mention. He was the medalist at the FutureLinks Junior at Greenhills and Marsh Junior at Hawk Point after winning both in playoffs. In addition he was the 2002 Ontario Junior/Juvenile Championship medalist and the 2002 Williamson Cup runner-up.
