In the starting lineup for the Wolverines against Charleston Southern were freshmen Graham Brown, Lester Abram and Daniel Horton, junior Bernard Robinson Jr. and senior LaVell Blanchard.
With his 24 points against the Buccaneers, senior tri-captain LaVell Blanchard jumped three spots to 14th place on Michigan's career scoring list with 1,468 points. Blanchard surpassed Rumeal Robinson (1,446, 1988-90), Loy Vaught (1,451, 1987-90) and Phil Hubbard (1,455, 1976-79). He needs 58 points to tie Juwan Howard (1,526, 1992-94) for 13th place.
Senior tri-captain Rotolu Adebiyi made his third appearance of the season, entering the game late in the first half. He scored his first points of the season on a long jumper from the corner in the final minute of the game. Adebiyi now has 15 points in his career as a Wolverine.
LaVell Blanchard tied a career high with five three-point field goals. Blanchard has 15 three-pointers this season, which gives him a total of 138 for his career. He is in third place on Michigan's all-time three-point field goals made list and needs 23 three-pointers to move ahead of Robbie Reid (160, 1998-99) into second place.
Sophomore Chuck Bailey had a season-high two blocks against Charleston Southern. He now has 18 blocks in his two seasons at Michigan.
Freshman Sherrod Harrell connected on his first career three-pointer at 15:33 of the second half. Harrell finished with a career-high three points.
Freshman Lester Abram had a career-high three assists. He finished the game with 13 points and three boards.
Freshman guard Daniel Horton was held scoreless for the first time this season. He finished the game with seven assists, three rebounds and a career-high two blocks.
Freshman center Graham Brown matched his career high in three categories against Charleston Southern, finishing with 14 points, seven rebounds and two assists.
Chuck Bailey had four rebounds against the Buccaneers, putting him over 100 rebounds for his career at U-M.
The last time Michigan won back-to-back games was at the start of the Big Ten schedule last season when U-M beat Penn State (Jan. 2) on the road and then defeated Purdue (Jan. 5) at Crisler Arena.
LaVell Blanchard, Bernard Robinson Jr., Graham Brown and Lester Abram all scored in double figures against the Buccaneers. This marks the first time since Dec. 3 against Central Michigan that U-M has had four players with 10 or more points.
The Wolverines held Charleston Southern to 53 points, a season low for a U-M opponent this season, and the 84 points scored by Michigan is a new season high.
