Michigan's three-game winning streak is its first since the 2000-01 season when the Wolverines posted four victories over Bowling Green (89-71, Dec. 13, 2000), Morris Brown (95-81, Dec. 23, 2000), Towson (73-71, Dec. 27, 2000) and Eastern Michigan (90-73, Dec. 30, 2000).
Michigan connected on a season-high 27 of 37 free throws today.
Michigan won its first game when trailing at halftime and when its opponent shot a higher field goal percentage. The Wolverines were down 32-29 at halftime today and shot 38.5 percent to the Commodores' 47.2 percent. Michigan was previously 0-5 in both categories.
The Wolverines won their first game in their maize jerseys this season. Michigan is 2-2 in the white jerseys, 1-2 in the maize jerseys and 0-2 in the blue jerseys.
LaVell Blanchard recorded seven rebounds to become the 13th Wolverine to corral over 700 rebounds in this career. Blanchard is currently 13th on Michigan's all-time rebound list with 701 career rebounds. He needs 44 rebounds to break into the top 10.
Blanchard was a perfect 10-10 from the free throw line for 100 percent, tying a Crisler Arena record for free throw percentage (minimum 10 attempts).
Today marked the third straight game that Michigan has had at least three players reach double figures in scoring. Dating back to last season, the Wolverines have had at least three players with 10 or more points in 15 of their last 16 games.
Lester Abram set a career high with six rebounds. His previous high was five rebounds against Bowling Green (Dec. 11).
Abram set career highs in both free throws made and attempted, shooting 6-for-9 from the line today. He had previously connected on 5-of-7 attempts against St. Bonaventure (Nov. 23).
Graham Brown set a career high with three steals against the Commodores. His previous high was one against Central Michigan (Dec. 3).
Daniel Horton tied a career high for free throws made on a perfect 7-for-7 from the line. Horton had previously made seven free throws against Central Michigan (Dec. 3).
Gavin Groninger snapped a shooting slump and tied a season high with five points.
