Willis Leads Quartet of Top-10 Finishers at Spartan Invite

In his first collegiate race, Willis was the first of four Wolverines to place in the event's top 10 runners. His time of 24:55 was 10 seconds behind second place and 16 seconds off the pace of winner Kyle Baker, who an assistant coach with Michigan State's men's cross country team.
Michigan placed a total of eight runners among the top 20 finishers in the non-scoring meet. Brian Turner (Omaha, Neb/Millard North HS) finished in sixth place with a time of 25:16. Senior/juniors Ryan Hesselink (Freeport, Mich./Thornapple-Kellogg HS) and Nick Stanko (Wyandotte, Mich./Roosevelt HS) finished eighth and ninth with times of 25:20 and 25:26, respectively.
The Wolverines' next action will take place Friday, Sept. 27, at the CCC Championship at Buhr Park in Ann Arbor, Mich. The race is set to start at 4 p.m.
