ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan women's golf coach Kathy Teichert announced the signing of Isabelle Gendreau (St. Georges de Beauce, Quebec/Saint Andrew's School, Fla.) to a National Letter of Intent for the 2004-05 academic year.
"We are very excited that Isabelle has decided to join our team," said Teichert. "She is very talented and we look forward to the contributions she will make both academically and athletically."
Gendreau was part of back-to-back Florida state championship teams at Saint Andrew's School in Boca Raton, with the school earning its first ever title in 2002 and then defending it in 2003. A 2003 All-County first team selection by the Sun-Sentinel and the Boca News, she holds the Saint Andrew's School record for lowest nine-hole score with a three-under 33.
In addition to her prep play, Gendreau plays in the Canadian Ladies' Golf Association, where she was named the Golfer of the Year the last three years (2001, '02 and '03). She is also a three-time member of Team Canada in the Orange Bowl Tournament. In 2003 she qualified for the U.S. Girls Junior Championship and missed the match play cut by two strokes.
The Maize and Blue will not play again until Feb. 16-17, 2004, when the Wolverines travel to Miami, Fla., to participate in the Golden Panther Golf Championship at the Miccosukee Resort.
