Michigan Head Coach Kurt Golder
On the home win against Iowa ... "It was great, since Iowa is a great team and this meet turned out just the way it should have, right down to the wire. It came right down to the last routine and Gerry Signorelli really came through for us. He rolled his ankle on
the floor in the first event and an hour and a half later he tapes up his ankle and goes out and hits the winning routine for us. That was the routine that really made the difference between a victory and a loss."
On winning the last match at home for the seniors ... "It was really special. You hate to see any of your seniors go out on a losing note their last meet here at Michigan. It was just perfect. I knew that Iowa had a strong high bar and it was going to go into the last two events and it was going to be a nail-biter."
On the last home performances for Conan Parzuchowski and Scott Vetere ... "Conan got the Newt Loken Award and it couldn't be more fitting in his last meet. I'm particularly happy for Scott as he is coming back. He did a beautiful p-bar routine. It is good to have him back on rings for the first time and he is ready to go on vault in the next meet. I am just really happy for him since it was looking doubtful for him in the fall and now it is really coming together for him."
Freshman Justin Laury
On his performance tonight and during the year ... "I am doing well and training hard and it is showing in the competition."
On his comfort level with having some experience under his belt ... " It definitely helps having more meets. You get more confidence as the season goes on."
Senior Captain Scott Vetere
On how he feels getting back into the routine ... "I feel great and things are starting to come together and I'm starting to get a little warmer. I am feeling really good. I felt really good in the last two events, vault and high bar."
On the team's chemistry heading toward the Big Ten Championships ... "We still have a lot of work to do and we are still waiting for (Kris) Zimmerman to get healthy. We are right were we want to be. We are going to have a couple of hard teams coming up so it should be a good test."
Senior Conan Parzuchowski
On his season performance on the still rings ... "I try to go out and not focus on winning or beating anybody, I try to go out and have a good time. It is just a whole bunch of fun."
On the close match against Iowa in his final home meet ... "There will be a few pieces of my gymnastics career that I will remember and this will be one of them. I am just glad that it was close since it makes it better for me."
