Golder, Levine to Lead USA at World University Games

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's gymnastics head coach Kurt Golder and assistant coach Louis Levine have been named head coach and assistant coach, respectively, of the 2003 United States World University Games men's gymnastics team. The Games are scheduled for Aug. 27-31 at Keimyung University in Daegu, Republic of Korea. Joining them will be gymnast Scott Vetere (Pennsburg, Pa./Quakertown HS), a fifth-year senior on U-M's 2003 team, and U-M volunteer coach Justin Toman (Wallingford, Conn.), who will serve as an alternate.

Just completing his first year as an assistant under coach Golder, Levine is U-M's recruiting coordinator and is a nationally certified judge. He was a member of Golder's 1999 and 2000 U-M teams. Levine graduated from U-M in 2001 with a degree in sports management and communications.
The 2003 Michigan team captain, Vetere was a nine-time All-American for the Wolverines and the 2000 Big Ten Gymnast of the Year. He was a member of the 1999 and 2000 U.S. National Teams, and U-M's 1999 and 2000 title-winning teams.
Toman was the 1999 and 2000 parallel bars NCAA champion and earned the 2002 Nissen-Emery Award, honoring the top senior gymnast in the country. A Verizon Academic All-American, Toman was a four-time team captain at U-M and a member of two Big Ten champion teams, including the 1999 national champion team.
