ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's gymnastics coach Kurt Golder announced today (Monday, Oct. 18) the hiring of Scott Vetere as an assistant coach. Vetere joins the Michigan coaching staff after a successful year coaching in the Junior National ranks at the Michigan Academy of Gymnastics in Westland, Mich.
"With Scott's youth, enthusiasm and recent experience, I have found the perfect combination I have been looking for in an assistant coach," Golder said. "His leadership and knowledge of the sport will greatly benefit our program."
Vetere, who graduated from Michigan in 2003, was a 10-time NCAA All-American, a five-time Big Ten champion, and shared Michigan's Male Athlete of the Year award in 2000. He helped lead the Wolverines to their 1999 NCAA team title, as well as Big Ten team titles that year and in 2000.
Vetere was also a member of the U.S. Senior National Team and the 2003 World University Games Team and has competed internationally in Japan, Spain and South Korea.
