Michigan Head Coach Cheryl Burnett
On the loss ... "As well as we played in our first three games, this was the opposite end of the spectrum. We talked to our players after the Santa Barbara game and said this team has to have an edge. To our coaching staff, having an edge means our effort is always there, our intensity is always there and we are outworking people on both ends of the floor. Give Drake a lot of credit because they came in with a great game plan, slowing us down and against our pressure. We feel like we got outplayed and any time we give up over 50 percent shooting in the second half, we are not doing what needs to be done defensively."
On the shots down the stretch ... "I shared with our players that we did a good job down the stretch of getting the ball to the players who needed the ball and we got it to them in the right position. We just missed some shots and we never say anything about getting good looks and those are the players we want taking those shots."
On the defensive effort ... "They just dribble-penetrated and 90 percent of their scores came off dribble penetration to the rim and we can't afford for that to happen against our defense. We're very disappointed in that aspect tonight."
