Hensick is currently on a four-game point and goal streak (5-3-8), and he leads the team in scoring with 11 goals and 13 assist for 24 points. Hensick also won CCHA Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 22. He won CCHA Rookie of the Week honors twice during the 2003-04 season.
Hunwick picked up his first career hat trick on Friday night vs. the Falcons and in the process set personal single-game records for goals (3) and points (3-0-3). By bringing his goal total to four this season he also set a season high for goals. On Saturday, Hunwick notched two assists. The first came on the game-tying goal in the third period, while the second came just minutes later on the game-winner.
Hunwick has an active three-game point streak with a 3-3-6 line over the span. He won a CCHA Rookie of the Week award once last season.
Michigan earned two CCHA Player of the Week awards for the second straight week, bringing the total for the 2004-05 season to seven. Previously, Hensick and Jeff Tambellini (Port Moody, B.C.) were CCHA Offensive Players of the Week, Brandon Rogers (Rochester, N.H.) and Eric Werner (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.) were CCHA Defensive Players of the Week and Kevin Porter (Northville, Mich.) was CCHA Rookie of the Week.
The No. 4-ranked Wolverines completed their first-half schedule on a four-game winning streak and will be off until Dec. 29-30 when they compete in the 40th annual Great Lakes Invitational in Detroit, Mich. Michigan plays Michigan Tech at 4:30 p.m. in a semifinal matchup on Dec. 29 at Joe Louis Arena. Depending on the outcome, U-M will face either Michigan State or New Hampshire on Dec. 30. The championship game is at 8 p.m., while the third-place contest is at 4:30 p.m.
