Michigan Coach Andrew Sapp
On the tournament finish for the Wolverines ... "If we would have been able to get one more good score we might have passed a team or two, but it did not quite work out that way for us, unfortunately. It was disappointing to not get past Northwestern and Wisconsin, who played really well today. Again, if we would have had that one more good score we could have gotten past them.
"It was good to see Christian (Vozza) get some momentum going into Big Tens. He played well there in the fall finishing third, so hopefully he can continue that and help lead this team. Kevin (Dore) had at least one really good round, yesterday's 72 was great, which I think was the fourth best score of the day. Hopefully we can take that into account and help his momentum as well."
On Christian Vozza's tournament ... "In all honesty if Christian would not have shot 79 yesterday he would have finished in the top five. Still it was a good tournament for him in a really excellent field of players. Any time you can shoot a 69 in the final round of a golf tournament you are in good shape."
On preparing to host the Big Ten Championships ... "We have a week to get ready with no class. It will all be preparation. It is encouraging to be able to play on our home golf course for Big Tens. There are not a lot of schools that can say that. So, no class no nothing. Just golf, sleep, eating and preparing for Big Tens. Hopefully, we will get five guys out there ready to go and shoot some good scores."
Sophomore Christian Vozza
On finding that consistent play for the team ... "All the guys on the team know that they can play well. Trying to find that consistency comes down to just making our up and downs. We are missing a lot of those and three-putting. If you hit a green, you should two putt, but there are always those difficult putts, but for sure at least two putt is what we need. I think we lose a lot of strokes on the greens. It's not like we are making double bogeys off the tee shot or out of bounds."
On his overall play the last month and his final-round 24 putts ... "Today I was putting out of my mind. I was 100 percent on my up and downs. I only had 24 putts, which is not the norm for me for sure. I really did not hit the ball that well today to be honest, but sometimes things just come together for you. Overall, I have been trying to hit more fairways. Just give myself more opportunities to hit the green and maybe make that first putt."
On preparing for Big Tens ... "We are looking to win. We just have to find the guys who want to do that. We can do it. It is just a matter of doing it. We have played well on our course everyone has. Even during qualifiers. So, everyone just has to find the confidence in themselves to play well. It's in there. If we can find that and use that we could come out with a victory, which would be just awesome."

Christian Vozza's third-round, three-under 69 at the Fossum/TaylorMade Invitational marks the third time in his career he has broken the 70-stroke barrier. Earlier this season he had a career-best four-under 67 in the third round of the Northern Intercollegiate (Sept. 20-21). He also had his first career sub-70 round in the second round of the Northern with a two-under 69.
Christian Vozza's 69 in the final round marks the fifth sub-70 single-round total for a Wolverine all season long. Vozza has had three total this season, while Kevin Dore (69, second round - Hoosier Invitational) and Dave Nichols (69, third round - Northern Intercollegiate) each have recorded one.
Christian Vozza has now led the Wolverines four times this season and has been the highest Maize and Blue finisher in three of the last four tournaments. In fact, a sophomore or freshman has led U-M in all 11 tournaments this season - Vozza (4), Kevin Dore (3), Brandon Duff (2) and Matt McLaughlin (2).
Christian Vozza and Kevin Dore have competed in all 11 tournaments for the Wolverines.
For the fourth straight tournament, Christian Vozza and Kevin Dore finished as the top two Wolverines.
Christian Vozza has carded 13 straight rounds under 80 strokes and 16 of his last 17 under 80. Vozza has shot over 80 just three times this season as he has 28 of 31 below the mark. He leads the team with 75.23 stroke per round.
Kevin Dore has fired 17 straight rounds under 80 strokes. For the season, he has just four total rounds above 80 as he has 27 of 31 rounds below the mark. He is second on the Wolverines shooting 75.77 per round.
Scott Carlton played in just his second tournament of the entire season at the Fossum/TaylorMade Invitational. In fact, Carlton did not know he was going to East Lansing until an individual spot opened Friday morning prior to the practice rounds. Carlton had not seen tournament action since the very first tournament of the season, nearly nine months ago - the Northern Intercollegiate (Sept. 20-21).
