Michigan's 871 Big Ten Championships team total was a season-best tally by nine strokes. Prior to the conference tournament, the Wolverines' best 54-hole tournament tally was an 880 at the Hoosier Invitational (Sept. 27-28).
Michigan's two-under 282 team total in the final round of the Big Ten Championships was a season-best tally by eight strokes. Prior to the conference championships, the Wolverines tallied a 290 in the first round in the Hoosier Invitational (Sept. 27-28).
Michigan's two-under 282 in the final round is the lowest team tally since the 1999-2000 season. During that season, the Wolverines twice had a team total of 281.
The last time the Wolverines went lower than 290 as a team was during the 2003 Big Ten Championships (May 2-4) when the Maize and Blue carded a 285 in the second round at the Indiana University Golf Course in Bloomington, Ind.
The last time the Wolverines went below par in a team tournament round was during the 2002 Big Ten Championships (May 3-5) when the Maize and Blue carded a four-under 284 in the second round at Iowa's Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City, Iowa.
Seniors Scott Carlton and Dave Nichols were also involved the last time Michigan had a below-par round as a team, on May 3, 2002, at the Big Ten Championships in Iowa City, Iowa. The Wolverines' four-under-par 284 in the second round of the 2002 Championships included scores from Andy Matthews (69), Kyle Kilcherman (71), Carlton (71) and Nichols (73).
Kevin Dore and Christian Vozza competed in their first Big Ten Championships.
Kevin Dore's three-under 68 in the final round is his career-best tally. That mark is a stroke better than his previous best of 69 carded in the first round of the Hoosier Invitational (Sept. 27-28).
Kevin Dore's Big Ten Championships total of one-over 214 tied his career-best 54-hole tournament tally. He also tallied a 214 at the Hoosier Invitational (Sept. 27-28).
After leading the Wolverines at the Big Ten Championships, Kevin Dore has now finished as the top Maize and Bluer in four tournaments, tying him with Christian Vozza for the team lead. In fact, a sophomore or a freshman led the Wolverines in all 12 tournaments this season -- Vozza (4), Dore (4), Matt McLaughlin (2) and Brandon Duff (2).
Kevin Dore's sub-70 final round of three-under 68 gives the Wolverines six rounds under that barrier. Christian Vozza had three on the season, including a career-best 67 in the third round of the Northern Intercollegiate (Sept. 20-21), Dore tallied two and Dave Nichols carded one. Four of the six sub-70 rounds occurred on the Wolverines' home course, the U-M Golf Course.
Scott Carlton used the final round of his career to shoot an even-par 71 in the final round of the Big Ten Championships. That mark is also season best and ties his third best career single-round tally.
