Ford Earns National Assistant Coach of the Year Laurel

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association announced last week (Friday, June 18) that University of Michigan women's rowing associate head coach Emily Ford has been awarded the Division I National Assistant Coach of the Year laurel. Ford's award comes on the heels of being named the 2004 Central Region Assistant Coach of the Year (June 7).

Ford helped the Wolverines to their fourth Big Ten Conference championship in five years and a third-place NCAA finish, their second best national showing ever. The first and second varsity eights both won Big Ten boat titles, and at the NCAA Championships the first varsity eight placed third and the second eight captured fourth.
The CRCA Assistant Coach of the Year award is designed to honor a member assistant coach who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to his/her program, has had a significant impact on the success of his/her program, and has demonstrated a high level of professionalism and integrity as a coach.
