Ford Named Central Region Assistant Coach of the Year

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association announced today (Monday, June 7) that University of Michigan women's rowing associate head coach Emily Ford is the recipient of the Central Region's Assistant Coach of the Year award. This is the second year that the CRCA has given out the laurel.

Ford helped the Wolverines to their fourth Big Ten Conference championship in five years and a third-place NCAA finish, their second best national showing ever. The first and second varsity eights both won Big Ten boat titles, and at the NCAA Championships the first varsity eight placed third and the second eight captured fourth.
The other 2004 Regional Assistant Coaches of the Year are Nicole Stimpson (U.S. Naval Academy) in the Mid-Atlantic Region, Shelagh Donohoe (Northeastern University) in the New England Region, Kelly Lynch (Clemson University) in the South Region and Sara Nevin (University of California) in the West Region.
The CRCA Assistant Coach of the Year award is designed to honor a member assistant coach who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to his/her program, has had a significant impact on the success of his/her program, and has demonstrated a high level of professionalism and integrity as a coach.
