This is the first weekly honor for the Wolverines this year and the second indoor distinction for Brannen during his four seasons at Michigan. He was honored by the Big Ten on Feb. 11, 2003, after netting his first collegiate sub four-minute mile -- the second of his running career -- at Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational. In the fall, Brannen wrapped up his collegiate cross country career with a total of three weekly awards, two of which came during a standout senior season.
Brannen and the No. 2-ranked Wolverines will head to Boston, Mass., this weekend for a pair of non-scoring events. U-M will send a contingent to the B.U. Invitational on Friday and Saturday (Jan. 28-29) at the Boston University Indoor Track, while Brannen and freshman Mike Woods (Ottawa, Ontario/Hillcrest HS) will run the mile at the Reebok Boston Indoor Games at 7:10 p.m. on Saturday evening.
