He sits atop the leaderboard after a 132 total for 36 holes.
Sophomore Brian Ottenweller (Grand Rapids, Mich./Catholic Central HS) led the Wolverines in the first round as he posted a career-best, five-under 66, which was the third best total ever by a Wolverine in a tournament. Q U O T E S
Michigan Coach Andrew Sapp
On the first 36 holes of the Alister MacKenzie ... "It was great to get off to a good start. To have three guys shoot under par was just tremendous. They really helped get our confidence going throughout the day. The second round got a little more difficult because of the hole placements and the breezy conditions, but Christian (Vozza) and Brian (Ottenweller) really carried us through the day. I mean, what can you say about Christian He just played so well, to go five under through the last four holes was just outstanding to watch."
Senior Christian Vozza
On his U-M record-tying 64 in the second round ... "I didn't even really know that it was a school record. I was really in the zone, but I can think about that stuff later. I put myself in a good position and this team is now in a good position. I want to focus on the final round and play well and close this tournament out well."

• Michigan's first round of nine-under 275 tied the U-M record for the lowest team single-round total. It was just two weeks ago when the Wolverines set the mark with a nine-under 275 team total in the second round of the 2005 Wolverine Intercollegiate (Sept. 24-25) at the U-M Golf Course.
• For the second time this season, Michigan has posted back-to-back under par team rounds. The Wolverines had team rounds of nine-under 275 and four-under 280 on the first day of the Alister MacKenzie Invitational. The Maize and Blue had back-to-back under par rounds with a seven-under 277 and a nine-under 275 on the first day of the 2005 Wolverine Intercollegiate (Sept. 24-25) two weeks ago.
• Michigan continues to add up the red numbers on the scorecards. Through four tournaments in 2005-06, the Wolverines have 26 rounds under par with 16 rounds under the 70-stroke barrier. During the entire of the 2004-05 season, Michigan recorded 15 rounds under par and five under 70 strokes.
• Christian Vozza's second-round seven-under 64 was a career best by two strokes and tied the U-M record for lowest single-round total. He tied All-American Michael Harris' 64 he had at the 1998 Xavier Invitational (Oct. 12-13). After bogeying the first hole, Vozza recorded an eagle and six birdies to finish the record-setting round. Vozza's previous best score was a six-under 66 fired in the third round of the 2004 Landfall Tradition (Oct. 29-31).
• Brian Ottenweller's first-round five-under 66 was a career best by a single stroke. Two weeks ago, he fired back-to-back four-under 67s in the first and second round of the 2005 Wolverine Intercollegiate (Sept. 24-25) at the U-M Golf Course.
• Brandon Duff's first-round three-under 68 was a career best by a single stroke. Two weeks ago, he set his best with a two-under 69 in the second round of the 2005 Wolverine Intercollegiate (Sept. 24-25) at the U-M Golf Course.
