SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Fifth-year senior Andrea Parker (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson) of the University of Michigan women's track and field team ran the second-best mile of her career Saturday (March 5), clocking in at 4:52.26 for 14th place at the Alex Wilson Invitational at Notre Dame's Loftus Indoor Track.
Parker fell 0.27 seconds off her career best, set earlier this season at the Silverston Invitational (Feb. 19). She was the only Wolverine competing in the Alex Wilson Invitational, a last chance meet for athletes on the cusp of qualifying for the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Michigan will send six athletes to the NCAA Indoor Championships next Friday and Saturday (March 11-12) in Fayetteville, Ark. Senior/junior Stephanie Linz (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) will compete in the high jump, while freshman Alyson Kohlmeier (Sarnia, Ontario/St.Patrick's) and fifth-year senior Lindsey Gallo (Feeehold, N.J./Howell) will run in the mile. Gallo will anchor Michigan's distance medley relay team, joining freshman Nicole Edwards (Winnipeg, Maintoba/Vincent Massey) senior Sierra Hauser-Price (Van Nuys, Calif./Notre Dame) and senior/junior Theresa Feldkamp (Lorain, Ohio/Amherst Steele).
