Gallo, Edwards and Gjesdal Regionally Qualify at Duke

DURHAM, N.C. -- Fifth-year senior Lindsey Gallo (Freehold, N.J./Howell) and freshman Nicole Edwards (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Vincent Massey) ran NCAA regional-qualifying times in the 1,500-meter run, while senior/junior Ana Gjesdal (LaCrescenta, Calif./Crescenta Valley) had an NCAA regional-qualifying time in the 5,000-meter run as the University of Michigan women's track and field team competed in day one of the Duke Blue Devil Invitational Friday (April 8) at Wallace Wade Stadium.
Gallo clocked in at 4:19.97 for third place in the fast heat of the 1,500-meter run, while Edwards took second in the second heat of the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:24.66 in her first 1,500-meter event.
Gjesdal regionally qualified for her second event this season, clocking in with a career-best 16:49.78 in the 5,000-meter run to finish fourth.
Senior/junior Theresa Feldkamp (Lorain, Ohio/Amherst Steele) also bettered her previous personal best in the 1,500-meter run by 3.24 seconds, clocking in at 4:30.29 for fifth in the second heat.
Michigan will compete in the second and final day of of the Duke Blue Devil Invitational on Saturday (April 9) beginning with the discus at 9 a.m.
