With tonight's victory, Michigan is now three games over the .500 mark for the first time since Feb. 2, 2003, when U-M stood at 11-8 before dropping eight of its final 10 games to finish at 13-16. It is also the first time that head coach Cheryl Burnett has been three games over the. 500 mark since she arrived at Michigan.
With one more victory, Michigan will have already matched its season total for the past two seasons (six).
Tonight's win over Central Michigan marks Michigan's third straight road victory. The Wolverines won just one road game in each of the last two seasons, and won just three in 2003-04.
Michigan has won its first three road games for the first time since the beginning of the 1999-2000 season.
With tonight's victory, Michigan moves its all-time record against Central Michigan to 14-9 (8-3 in games played at Rose Arena). The Wolverines have been victorious in five of the last six meetings with the Chippewas.
Michigan moves its season record against Mid-American Conference opponents to 2-1. The Wolverines are 69-47 all-time against teams from the MAC.
With 10 points off the bench tonight, Ta'Shia Walker moved into sole possession of 33rd place on Michigan's all-time scoring list. Walker has scored 631 points in 58 career games (10.9 average). She needs eight points to tie Lisa Reynolds (1987-88) for the 32nd spot.
After scoring a career-best 10 points against Central Michigan, Melinda Queen surpassed the 100-point mark (105) for her career.
Ta'Shia Walker recorded her team-leading 30th career double-digit scoring game tonight (10 points).
Krista Phillips' 14-point performance was her second career double-digit scoring game.
Stephany Skrba has recorded at least seven rebounds in each of her last four games. She leads the team with a 6.5 average. Her eight-board performance against CMU was her team-leading 15th career game with at least seven rebounds.
Krista Phillips recorded career-high totals of 14 points, nine rebounds and seven blocks against Central Michigan. She also knocked down a career-best six free throws.
Krista Phillips' seven blocks against the Chippewas is the fifth-highest single-game total in school history. Patrice Donovan (1981-82) holds the record with 11, set against Wayne State on Jan. 30, 1982.
Janelle Cooper, Michigan's leading scorer headed into the game at 10.2 ppg, was held scoreless (0-of-3). It was the first time Cooper was held scoreless since Nov. 18, 2005 against Notre Dame.
Sireece Bass matched a career high with one steal against Central Michigan.
Kalyn McPherson recorded her first career block and matched a career best with one steal against the Chippewas.
Melinda Queen scored a career-high 10 points against CMU. Her previous career best was seven points, which she reached on two previous occasions.
Michigan outscored Central Michigan 32-18 in the paint.
The Wolverines hit a season-best .786 from the free throw line (11-of-14).
Michigan gave up a season-high 28 turnovers against Central Michigan.
The Wolverines knocked down a season-low one three-pointer against the Chippewas (1-of-7).
The Maize and Blue surrendered a season-low 25 rebounds to Central Michigan. U-M out-rebounded CMU 40-25.
Michigan's bench outscored its opponents reserves for the fifth time in seven games, this time by a 25-8 margin. The Wolverine bench is outscoring their opponents reserves by an average margin of 14.3 points this season.
U-M is 2-1 this season when it scores 52 points or less. The Wolverines are 4-0 when holding their opponents at or under 50 points.
Michigan has won two games this season when it has trailed at halftime.
The Wolverines have out-rebounded their opponent in six of seven games this year.
