Wolverines Claim Two More Relay Titles at Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team claimed the 4x800-meter relay and distance medley relay titles Saturday (April 15) on the final day of the Sea Ray Relays on Tom Black Track.
The Maize and Blue posted a school-record time of 8:30.65 in the 4x800m relay, more than three seconds faster than second-place finisher Villanova and close to three seconds faster than the 2005 outdoor school-record time of 8:33.36. Freshman Geena Gall (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) and fifth-year senior Theresa Feldkamp (Loraine, Ohio/Amherst Steele) led the first two legs, respectively, and sophomore Nicole Edwards (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Vincent Massey) and senior/junior Katie Erdman (Cadillac, Mich./Cadillac) closed out the race.
Michigan took the DMR title with a time of 11:29.59 as sophomore Alyson Kohlmeier (Sarnia, Ontario/St. Patrick's) led off with the 1,200-meter first leg, junior Chanelle Campbell (Round Rock, Texas/Round Rock) and freshman Amber Hay (Detroit, Mich./Renassiance) ran the 400- and 800-meter distances, and junior Erin Webster (Dearborn, Mich./Divine Child) anchored the team with the 1,600-meter leg.
In other relay action, the Wolverines took fifth in the shuttle hurdle relay with a time of 57.46. The Maize and Blue was represented by sophomore Kiersten Isgrigg (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon) and freshmen Tiffany Ofili (Ypsilanti, Mich./Ypsilanti), Katie LaValley (Ada, Mich./Forest Hills Central) and Joi Smith (Cleveland, Ohio/Collinwood).
In the long jump freshman Casey Taylor (Chicago Heights, Ill./Marian Catholic) and Ofili finished eighth and 11th, respectively. Taylor (19-5 1/2) and Ofili (19-1 1/2) both jumped personal bests.
The Wolverines will have their first outdoor meet in the state of Michigan when they compete at the EMU Twilight on Saturday (April 22) on Old Marshall Track in Ypsilanti, Mich..
