DiGiore, Bottke Earn All-America Status at Event Finals

NORMAN, Okla. -- In their final routines representing the Maize and Blue, University of Michigan seniors Andrew DiGiore (Buffalo, N.Y./City Honors School) and Luke Bottke (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage HS) earned All-America status when they competed today (Saturday, April 8) in the individual event finals of the NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championships at the University of Oklahoma's Lloyd Noble Center.
DiGiore, who was in first place on the vault leading into today's finals, was one of only four athletes to perform a difficult two and a half twisting vault. He performed his with only a small hop on the landing for a 9.412 to place fifth, claiming his second career All-America citation.
Bottke, the Michigan record holder on the floor exercise, performed a near flawless routine complete with intricate twisting tumbling passes and a stuck double-full dismount for a 9.25. In third place early in the rotation, Bottke finished in eighth to earn the second All-America honor of his career.
The top eight finishers in each event from today's competition and from Friday's all-around competition earned All-America status.
