ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Big Ten Baseball Tournament game between top-seeded Michigan and Minnesota set for Thursday night (May 25) at Ray Fisher Stadium was postponed due to unplayable field conditions and further threat of inclement weather.
The Big Ten champion Wolverines (38-18), the only team that has not yet played a game in the six-team tournament, will face Minnesota (33-24) Friday (May 26) at 10:05 a.m. in a revamped schedule that will include four games at Fisher Stadium.
The Michigan-Minnesota game will be followed by the elimination game between Purdue (31-26) and Northwestern (25-32) slated for 1:05 p.m. The survivor of the Purdue-Northwestern game remains to play at 4:05 p.m. against the loser of the morning game.
The winners' bracket game remains set for 7:05 p.m. with Ohio State (37-19) playing the winner of the Michigan-Minnesota game.
The Saturday (May 26) schedule remains the same at this time with games scheduled for 3:35 and 7:05. The 7:05 p.m. game could be for the championship and the automatic NCAA bid. The tournament could last until Sunday (May 27) if a second championship game is needed.
In first-day action Wednesday (May 24) Minnesota defeated Illinois 8-1 and Ohio State defeated Purdue 2-1 in 12 innings. In the games played Thursday (May 25) Purdue eliminated Illinois 10-5 and Ohio State dropped second seed Northwestern into the losers' bracket by a 9-0 margin.
