NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Michigan women's soccer team played its third straight shutout contest, blanking Oklahoma 2-0 Friday night (Sept. 1) at John Crain Field. Melissa Dobbyn (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson) and Katelin Spencer (Brighton, Mich./Brighton) each scored in the second half. Megan Tuura (Tucker, Ga./St. Pius X Catholic) made three saves in the first half to help U-M to the shutout victory. The win is head coach Debbie Rademacher's 150th at Michigan.
The first half featured no scoring for the third straight contest. Tuura had to come up with three key saves as OU tripled Michigan's shots on goal in the beginning stanza. U-M carried the shot total 8-6 as the teams entered halftime scoreless.
Dobbyn connected just 1:28 into the second half to give the Wolverines a 1-0 advantage. Emily Kalmbach (Coto de Caza, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic) sent a cross into the penalty area and Dobbyn finished back post at 46:28.
Spencer added to the lead in the 67th minute on a feed from Danelle Underwood (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids). Underwood took a set piece from Judy Coffman (San Jose, Calif./Santa Theresa), raced down the wing, and sent a lofted cross to Spencer's head far post. The Spencer header put U-M up 2-0.
Madison Gates (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) relieved Tuura in the 76th minute and Michigan cruised to the win.
The Wolverines next take to the field at Oklahoma State on Sunday (Sept. 3, 11:30 a.m CDT) at the Cowgirl Corral in Stillwater, Okla.

• U-M is undefeated in its first three games for the second straight season. Michigan went 2-0-2 to begin 2005 before dropping two of its next three games.
• The Wolverines have not allowed a goal in the past four regular-season contests and hold a regular-season defensive scoreless streak of 433:12 minutes dating back to last season. QUOTES
Michigan Head Coach Debbie Rademacher
On the offensive output in the second half ... "Second half we went to a three front. We played better in the second half and took it to them. We were getting balls to the forwards in better positions and we were more dynamic in the second half offensively."
On the play of senior goalkeeper Megan Tuura ... "Right in the first half, (Tuura) had to come up big for all three saves she made. She did well on the saves she had to make. She didn't make very many, but the ones that she did make were of real quality."
On senior captain Katelin Spencer moving to the midfield ... "We put her in the midfield so we could get more mobility. Her work rate is tremendous and she is tireless. We have talked to her about getting shots and producing from the midfield and she has done a good job."
