Kolarik Added as Alternate Captain for 2007-08 Season

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan ice hockey head coach Red Berenson announced today (Wednesday, Oct. 10) that he has named senior forward Chad Kolarik (Abington, Pa.) an alternate captain for the 2007-08 season.

Michigan's only four-year player besides senior captain Kevin Porter (Northville, Mich.), Kolarik posted career highs in points (45) and assist (27) in 2006-07 while adding 18 goals. He has yet to miss a game in his Michigan career, skating in 124 consecutive games. Kolarik was named to the Preseason All-CCHA second team.
Michigan's other alternate captain is junior forward Tim Miller (Davisburg, Mich.).
The No. 9-ranked Wolverines get their regular season underway this weekend at the Ice Breaker Invitational in St. Paul, Minn. U-M plays No. 2 Boston College at 4:30 p.m. CDT Friday (Oct. 12). Michigan will play Rensselaer or No. 6 Minnesota on Saturday (Oct. 13) at 4:30 or 7:30 p.m. CDT.
