ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's basketball coach John Beilein announced today (Thursday, Oct. 18) junior/sophomore Kendric Price (Boston, Mass./Buckingham, Brown & Nichols School) will leave the program to consider other options while continuing to concentrate on his academics. He will remain on scholarship for the 2007-08 academic year.
"After meeting with Kendric over the past few days, we have mutually decided that he will leave the Michigan Basketball program," said Beilein. "Kendric is a talented young man, and we wish him nothing but success in the future."
"After much thought throughout the fall and over the last few weeks, I feel that I need to step away," said Price. "I am thankful for the opportunity that was given to me here at Michigan, but I am going to take some time to concentrate on my academic career and decide if I want to further pursue my playing career."
After redshirting his freshman season, Price saw action in eight games last season, averaging 1.1 points and almost a rebound per game. He had a career-best six points in an 82-50 win over Harvard (Nov. 11).
