BOSTON -- The University of Michigan women's rowing team placed both of its boats in the top 10 of their respective races at the 43rd annual Head of the Charles Regatta on Sunday (Oct. 21). Leading the way was U-M's eight, which turned in a program-best effort by finishing in third place in the Women's Championship Eight division. The Maize and Blue four took ninth overall in the Women's Championship Four division.

The Wolverine eight was the top-finishing crew among U.S. colleges with a time of 16:21.651. Ahead of U-M was the Princeton Training Center -- the U.S. national team entry -- in a time of 15:26.572 and the London Training Center -- the Canadian national team entry -- in 15:39.412. The London Training Center crew featured U-M alumnae Heather Mandoli and Katie Reynolds. Previously, the Michigan eight's best showing in the Head of the Charles Regatta was fourth place in 2000.

The Michigan four took ninth in a time of 19:06.206. The Wolverines were fourth among their collegiate counterparts.
